New Patriotic Party (NPP) Greater Accra Regional Chairman-elect Bernard Okoe Boye has pledged to bridge the gap between regional and constituency executives as part of efforts to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

According to him, unity and closer collaboration among party executives will be critical to the NPP’s efforts to reclaim parliamentary seats in the Greater Accra Region and return to power.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Dr Okoe Boye said his decision to contest the regional chairmanship was driven by a desire to gain experience at the regional level and contribute to the party’s future.

“My biggest motivation for going for regional chairman is not necessarily to occupy the post and add it to my CV. The biggest motivator is that just as I have learnt so many things from constituency politics, I am convinced that the assignment God has for me in the future, I need to operate at the regional level and pick vital lessons while also writing my chapter,” he said.

He said he believes he has a bigger assignment ahead and wants to use his new position to strengthen the NPP’s structures and expand its parliamentary representation in Greater Accra.

“I know in my spirit that there is a big assignment that God has for me. I want to grow the family I already have,” he said.

Dr Okoe Boye noted that the NPP currently holds five of the 24 parliamentary seats in the Greater Accra Region, describing the situation as a major task for the party to address ahead of the next elections.

“Currently, we have five seats out of 24, so the task is to reclaim all we lost. In the worst-case scenario, we must be able to share Accra 50/50. The target is clear, so we now have to do the mapping,” he said.

He said the party’s regional leadership must have a clear understanding of its electoral position and develop strategies tailored to the various constituencies.

Dr Okoe Boye expressed confidence in the capacity of the NPP’s constituency executives, saying their commitment and competence would be central to the party’s efforts to regain lost ground.

“My confidence now is in the quality and capacity of the constituency executives that I have,” he said.

He therefore pledged to strengthen cooperation between the regional and constituency structures, which he identified as one of his key priorities.

“I will bridge the gap between regional executives and constituency executives. We need to work together hard and fulfil the task of winning the 2028 election and making Bawumia the next President of Ghana,” he said.

Dr Okoe Boye also identified unity as another major priority, promising to work with all party members irrespective of their differences.

“Unity is also a very big task for me. We will work together with all party members in love and unity,” he said.

According to him, reconciliation and forgiveness must form the foundation of the NPP’s efforts to rebuild its structures and regain public confidence.

“The first step to winning the election is through reconciliation and forgiveness. When we are together, NPP is unbeatable,” he added.
