Fire has damaged an ICT laboratory and an adjoining classroom at the Gushegu Nursing and Midwifery Training College in the Northern Region.

The incident occurred on Monday, August 17, 2026, with firefighters from the Yendi Fire Station travelling about 61 kilometres to the college to respond to the emergency.

Upon arrival, the firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the institution.

The fire was successfully brought under control and completely extinguished at about 9:13 a.m.

Although the fire affected the ICT laboratory and the adjoining classroom, the prompt intervention of the firefighters prevented the flames from extending to other facilities on the college premises.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities expected to determine what triggered the outbreak.
