Ghanaian FA Cup champions Nations FC will begin their maiden African club competition journey with an away fixture against Mali’s FC Diarra in the first round of the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup preliminary stage.
The pairing was confirmed following the preliminary round draw conducted by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in Cairo on Thursday.
Nations FC will travel to Mali for the first leg, which is scheduled to take place between 4 and 6 September 2026, before hosting the return fixture between 11 and 13 September.
The Ghanaian side will be hoping to secure a positive result in the opening encounter as they seek to advance to the next stage of the competition in their first-ever continental appearance.
If Nations FC overcome FC Diarra, they will face the winner of the tie between Nigerien club AS Zam and Togo’s ASKO De Kara in the next round.
The debutants earned their place in the CAF Confederation Cup after lifting the 2025/26 Ghana FA Cup title, marking a historic achievement for the club.
Their participation adds another Ghanaian representative to CAF’s inter-club competitions, with Nations FC now aiming to make a strong impression on the continental stage.
