The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has donated relief items to residents of Samraboi-Nsuoakyire in the Aowin Municipality of the Western North Region who were displaced by recent flooding.
The support includes an air-conditioned camp tent and mattresses to provide temporary shelter for families whose homes were destroyed by the floods.
The intervention comes weeks after heavy rains triggered widespread flooding in parts of the municipality, leaving many residents homeless and causing extensive damage to property and livelihoods.
Samraboi-Nsuoakyire was among the worst-affected communities, with several families still struggling to recover from the disaster.
Speaking after the presentation, the Western North Regional Director of NADMO, Esther Oppong, said the donation forms part of the organisation’s efforts to provide immediate relief to victims while longer-term recovery measures are pursued.
She noted that NADMO remains committed to supporting affected communities and ensuring that displaced families have access to safe temporary accommodation.
Receiving the items on behalf of the community, the Municipal Chief Executive for Aowin, Stephen Ntow Morcher, expressed gratitude to NADMO for the timely intervention.
He described the support as a major relief for affected families and appealed to beneficiaries to take proper care of the facilities to ensure they continue to serve those displaced by the floods.
The donation forms part of ongoing efforts by NADMO and other stakeholders to assist flood victims and support the recovery of communities affected by recent heavy rains in the region.
