Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has dismissed reports claiming he has stepped down from his role following Ghana’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speculation over the Portuguese tactician’s future intensified after he shared a message on social media expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead the national team at the tournament.

Many interpreted the post as a farewell, despite the 73-year-old still being under contract until August.

Ghana’s fifth FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end in the Round of 32 after a defeat to Colombia.

The Black Stars had progressed to the knockout stage after finishing third in their group but were unable to advance further.

Following the team’s exit, Queiroz thanked players, supporters and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the chance to guide the side on football’s biggest stage, prompting widespread speculation that he had resigned.

However, the experienced coach has firmly denied those claims.

“I didn’t resign. I sent a message of gratitude,” he said in a viral social media video with a fan.

Queiroz was appointed Black Stars head coach on a four-month contract after replacing Otto Addo ahead of the World Cup.

His current deal with the Ghana Football Association is expected to be reviewed in the coming weeks as officials assess the team’s performance at the tournament.

For now, the veteran manager has made it clear that he has not resigned from his position, despite the rumours circulating on social media.
