Ghana’s tallest man, Abdul-Samed Sulemana, popularly known as Awuche, is set to undergo medical treatment for complications linked to gigantism at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

The condition has affected his mobility, with doctors assessing him for surgery and the possibility of a leg amputation as part of efforts to improve his health.

His medical care has received support from businessman and philanthropist Dr. Ibrahim Mahama, Chief Executive Officer of Engineers & Planners, who has pledged to cover his medical expenses.

Awuche’s arrival at the hospital marks the beginning of a medical process aimed at managing the complications associated with his condition and improving his quality of life.

Doctors at the facility are expected to conduct further assessments before deciding on the appropriate treatment plan.

At just 33 years old, Awuche measures an astonishing 7 feet 4 inches (2.23 m).

He was diagnosed with a rare endocrine disorder called acromegaly, a type of gigantism caused by an excess of growth hormone.

Awuche faces significant health and financial challenges, including a serious skin complaint on his leg and spine curvature.

With the support secured for his treatment, Awuche and his family are hopeful of a positive outcome as he begins the next stage of his medical journey.
