Nigerian actress Peggy Ovire has announced the conclusion of her divorce proceedings from fellow actor Frederick Leonard.
In an emotional social media post, Peggy wrote, “Thank you Jesus. It is done. I’m finally free,” alongside other messages from friends celebrating her return to spinsterhood.
The divorce comes four years after their wedding on November 19, 2022, after dating on and off since 2015.
The actress had previously opened up about challenges in the marriage, making allegations of infidelity against her former husband.
Peggy claimed that Frederick was involved in a secret relationship with a married woman with four children before their marriage and that the alleged relationship continued after their traditional wedding in November 2022.
According to her, she initially believed explanations that the two were only friends but later claimed she discovered evidence that suggested the relationship went beyond friendship.
She alleged that the pair met privately at apartments and hotels, and described the situation as a painful betrayal, especially because the woman she accused of being involved with her husband had attended their wedding.
Peggy also claimed that she faced difficulties during the divorce process, alleging delays and stating that Frederick did not personally appear at one court session but was represented by his lawyers.
She insisted that she remained committed to seeing the legal process through until its conclusion.
Frederick Leonard has not publicly responded to the latest allegations.
The divorce marks the end of a closely followed celebrity marriage, with fans and industry observers reacting to Peggy’s announcement across social media.
