Fashion influencer and Kristo Asafo Church member, Osebo the Zaraman, has revised his earlier claim that the late Apostle Emeritus Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka’s will named Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as the sole successor to lead the Kristo Asafo Mission.
According to him, he was misled and failed to properly represent the contents of the will when he mentioned Akofena as the successor.
He explained that after being drawn to a specific provision (Paragraph 26, 27) in the will by lawyers representing Adwoa Safo, he realised that the document did not exclusively appoint Akofena as the next leader of the Kristo Asafo Mission.
The provision, he said, indicates that all three sons of the late Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka have the capacity to lead the church. These include Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena, Nana Yaw Abraham Safo and Nana Obed Kwadwo Safo.
It is quoted to have read, “It is my wish and I so direct that only my male child and a male child of my male child, from generation to generation shall occupy the position of the leader of the Kristo Asafo Nation of Ghana and any such male child of mine or the male child of my male child from generation to generation shall have the name Safo always.“
Osebo acknowledged that his earlier statement was incomplete and said it was only right to correct the record after receiving clarification from the legal team.
The clarification comes amid an ongoing dispute over the interpretation of the will and the leadership structure of the church following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.
Currently, the lawyer for Kristo Asafo Mission Church, Nana Kofi Safo Kantanka, has also clarified that no clear successor has been named in the will. Rather, control of the body, funeral arrangement, personal apparel of the late industrialist has been explicitly willed to Akofena.
Control of the empire, though, remains private and has not been willed to a sole successor.
