The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has stated that power supply has largely been restored to customers across Greater Accra following emergency outages caused by Monday’s flooding.
In a public announcement issued on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, ECG said the temporary curtailment of electricity from its Bulk Supply Points (BSPs) was necessary to protect lives, safeguard critical power installations and prevent damage to electrical infrastructure during the floods.
According to the company, electricity has now been restored to most affected areas after engineers completed safety assessments.
However, ECG noted that communities in low-lying areas where floodwaters have yet to recede will continue to experience power outages as a safety precaution.
The company explained that its fault response teams are working closely with national emergency agencies to ensure electricity is restored immediately once conditions are declared safe.
It added that engineers are also on the ground addressing localized faults caused by the flooding to restore normal service to affected customers.
ECG urged residents to remain vigilant during the ongoing rainy season and promptly report any electricity-related hazards, including fallen power lines and damaged electrical installations.
The company advised the public to contact its Contact Centre on 0302 611 611 or use its official social media platforms to report emergencies for immediate response.
The update comes after heavy rains on Monday triggered widespread flooding across parts of Greater Accra, disrupting electricity supply, damaging infrastructure and affecting thousands of residents and businesses.
