The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has announced the conclusion of the Government of Ghana’s World Cup group-stage ticket support scheme, urging fans seeking tickets for any subsequent Black Stars matches to purchase them directly through FIFA’s official ticketing platform or accredited agencies.

In a statement, the Ministry said the government had procured a limited number of tickets solely for Ghana’s three group-stage matches as part of a national support initiative for selected Ghanaian supporters, recognised supporter groups, sponsors, stakeholders and diaspora community structures.

According to the Ministry, 948 tickets were allocated for Ghana’s match against Panama, 1,000 for the clash with England and 974 for the final group-stage encounter against Croatia.

The Ministry explained that the distribution process was coordinated through Ghana’s diplomatic missions in Canada and the United States, recognised Ghanaian associations, supporter groups, sponsors and other stakeholders.

It noted that Ghana’s missions compiled limited lists of beneficiaries following consultations with established Ghanaian community groups, after which tickets were issued electronically through FIFA’s mobile ticketing system to approved individuals or designated group leaders.

The Ministry acknowledged the disappointment of many Ghanaians who were unable to secure tickets, stressing that demand significantly exceeded the number available.

“We fully understand the disappointment of supporters who could not be accommodated within the limited allocation,” the statement said.

It further clarified that the government’s ticket allocation covered only the Black Stars’ group-stage fixtures and that there is currently no government-supported ticket arrangement for any later stage of the tournament.

“As such, fans who wish to attend any further Black Stars matches are advised to procure their tickets directly through FIFA’s official ticketing platform or through accredited and authorised ticketing agencies,” the Ministry stated.

The Ministry also expressed appreciation to Ghana’s diplomatic missions in Canada and the United States, recognised associations, supporter groups and other stakeholders for their role in coordinating the distribution process.

It added that, in the interest of transparency and accountability, the list of individuals, groups and institutions that benefited from the scheme would be published at a later date once the appropriate publication format has been finalised.

The Ministry encouraged Ghanaians at home and abroad to continue supporting the Black Stars with unity, discipline and national pride throughout the tournament.
