The Judicial Service has advised judges, magistrates and staff to exercise caution following the heavy rains and flooding that have affected parts of Accra.
In a circular dated Monday, June 29, 2026, the Deputy Judicial Secretary, Justice Dr. Cyracus B. Bapuuroh, said the directive was issued on the instructions of the Chief Justice in response to the adverse weather conditions.
The circular urged all judicial officers and staff who had not yet left their homes to travel to their duty stations only when it is safe to do so, while taking all necessary precautions.
It further advised judges and magistrates to adjourn cases scheduled for hearing where parties, witnesses, lawyers or other court users are unable to attend due to the prevailing weather conditions.
“The safety, health and welfare of all Judges, Staff and Court Users remain of paramount importance to the Judicial Service,” the circular stated.
The Judicial Service also urged all judges, magistrates and staff to take every necessary precaution to protect their safety and well-being and avoid unnecessary exposure to risk.
The directive comes as heavy rainfall on Monday triggered widespread flooding across several parts of Accra, disrupting transportation, businesses and other public services, with emergency response agencies continuing rescue operations in affected communities.
