Residents of Kotobabi in the Greater Accra Region are appealing to the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) for urgent intervention after flooding left several people stranded in their homes following heavy rainfall.
According to some affected residents, floodwaters rose rapidly, making it difficult for families to leave their homes safely.

They say the situation has worsened due to the community’s proximity to the Alajo drainage channel, which connects to the Odaw drain.

Residents claim the drains are overwhelmed and have overflowed, causing water to spill into nearby homes and streets.
They are calling on NADMO and other relevant authorities to deploy emergency teams to evacuate vulnerable residents and provide immediate assistance.
The affected residents are also urging city authorities to take long-term measures to improve drainage infrastructure and prevent recurring floods in the area, especially during the rainy season.
