Construction works are progressing steadily under the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project aimed at improving access to clean water and sanitation facilities in selected schools within the Ga Traditional Area.
The initiative is being implemented through a collaboration between the Ga Mantse Foundation, the Ga Traditional Council, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The project involves the construction of 10 boreholes and seven 13-seater toilet facilities across selected basic and senior high schools, with works currently ongoing in several locations.
Once completed, the facilities are expected to provide reliable access to clean water, improve hygiene standards, reduce the spread of waterborne diseases, and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning.
Schools benefiting from the project include the 28 February Road and Private Odartey Lamptey Memorial Basic School, John Wesley Methodist Basic School, Aayalolo Cluster of Schools, Jamestown Methodist School, Ebenezer Senior High School, and St. Mary’s Senior High School.
Work at St. Mary’s R/C Girls Basic School is also expected to commence soon as part of the expanded rollout of the project.
The Ga Mantse Foundation says the intervention reflects a shared commitment to sustainable development and improving living conditions through strategic partnerships.
It added that investing in water and sanitation infrastructure is key to promoting health, education, dignity, and long-term community development.
The foundation further reaffirmed its commitment to working with partners to strengthen resilient and thriving communities across the Ga State.
