Tension erupted in Pantang Village in the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, when a municipal taskforce demolished the Kingdom Palace Church for allegedly obstructing a waterway.

The operation, carried out by officials of the La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly led by the MCE, Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, sparked chaos as the angry pastor and some members resisted the demolition team.

The head pastor, visibly distraught, attempted to stop the demolition and claimed he had been a strong supporter of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“I sacrificed 32 cows to help the NDC win power,” the pastor lamented, adding that he had maintained close ties with top party figures, including National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia (General Mosquito), and had even visited the President’s residence.

Despite his emotional plea and references to his political support, the task force proceeded with the demolition, stating that the exercise was necessary to clear waterways and prevent flooding in the area.

Meanwhile, Mr. Fuseini has stated that many houses in waterways have been earmarked for demolition in the municipality, and it will take place in due course.
