A young man popularly known as Sheihu, believed to be in his early twenties, has reportedly died in Salaga in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region after allegedly stabbing himself while attempting to demonstrate what he claimed were spiritual powers.
The incident is said to have occurred on Wednesday, June 24, during a programme organised by some youth as part of activities marking the annual Fire Festival.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased allegedly used a knife on himself before a crowd in an apparent attempt to prove his supernatural abilities.
He reportedly sustained severe injuries during the act and was rushed to the Salaga Government Hospital for treatment.
However, he was later pronounced dead, throwing the community into shock and mourning.
The incident has sparked discussions among residents, with many expressing concern over the dangers associated with such demonstrations.
Authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
