Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy has made history after becoming the African artiste with the highest number of entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.
The Grammy Award-winning singer achieved the feat following the chart success of Dai Dai, his collaboration with Colombian pop icon Shakira.
The new entry takes Burna Boy’s total Billboard Hot 100 appearances to nine, moving him ahead of fellow Nigerian star Tems, who previously shared the record with him at eight entries.
The latest milestone further strengthens Burna Boy’s reputation as one of Africa’s most successful global music exports.
Over the years, the Afrofusion star has consistently expanded his international reach through chart-topping collaborations, sold-out tours, and award-winning projects that have helped push African music onto the global stage.
While Burna Boy now holds the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 entries by an African artiste, Tems continues to dominate in another key category.
The singer remains the African artiste with the most cumulative weeks spent on the Billboard Hot 100, amassing 134 weeks on the chart. She is followed by Wizkid with 75 weeks, Rema with 66 weeks, South African star Tyla with 57 weeks, and Burna Boy with 54 weeks.
The achievement highlights the growing influence of African music in international markets, with artistes from the continent continuing to break records and secure their place on some of the world’s most competitive music charts.
