The family of the late inventor and founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, has distanced itself from previously announced funeral dates, insisting that no final agreement has been reached on the burial arrangements.
Dr. Philip Siaw Kissi, Secretary to the family, said the family is not aware of the July 30 and 31, 2026 dates circulating in the media, stressing that discussions are still ongoing.
“We have not announced any July 30 and 31 funeral dates. As a family, we know nothing about those arrangements,” he said in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem programme.
According to him, the family believes the said dates were set without proper consultation and do not reflect a collective family decision.
“It is Adwoa Safo who has sat in her chambers with her people and set her own dates, and that is not acceptable in our tradition,” he alleged.
Dr. Kissi stressed that efforts are being made to ensure peace and unity within the family despite ongoing disagreements over the funeral arrangements.
“We are all trying to ensure that peace prevails, but she refuses to listen,” he added.
He explained that the family is still engaging stakeholders and has not reached a final decision on the burial schedule.
“At the right time, you will hear from the family. We are still in talks,” he said.
Dr. Kissi further noted that the late Apostle Safo not being buried several months after his demise was a worrying situation for the family.
“It will be ten months since our father passed away on July 11, and he is still not buried. We need to let Ghanaians know what is happening because many people have interest in this matter,” he said.
He reaffirmed that the family’s priority remains securing the body for a proper traditional burial.
“Our focus is simple—we want to get the body of our father so we can bury him as a family,” he stated.
Meanwhile, earlier reports had indicated that the family and church leadership had agreed on funeral arrangements scheduled for July 30 and 31, 2026, following consultations.
However, the family now maintains that no final consensus has been reached.
