Award-winning rapper Sarkodie has finally addressed the social media storm triggered by a cryptic post from Stonebwoy that many fans interpreted as a jab at him and Shatta Wale.

The controversy erupted after Stonebwoy shared a tweet that read: “These 2 guys have been faking to each other based on interests and timing. Convenient friendship. Even the devil hates that.”

The post quickly went viral, generating thousands of comments, reposts and reactions, with many social media users convinced it was aimed at Sarkodie and Shatta Wale following their recent public reunion on stage.

The pair, who have had a rocky relationship over the years, surprised fans when they shared a moment together at Shatta’s recent UK concert, fueling conversations that their brotherhood bond is reignited.

But just as fans were celebrating the renewed camaraderie, Stonebwoy’s shady tweet surfaced and shifted attention away from the moment.

Addressing the issue, Sarkodie said he is reluctant to conclude that the tweet was aimed at him and Shatta Wale without hearing it directly from Stonebwoy himself.

“Because of the energy around it, I would like to hear it come from him and say that it’s you and Shatta Wale I’m talking about,” he said.

According to the rapper, social media users are often quick to draw conclusions and attach names to vague statements even before facts are known.

Sarkodie stressed that he has not had any conversation with Stonebwoy regarding the tweet and therefore cannot chest it as a subliminal shade.

“If he meets me or he texts me and says this is what I meant, then I will have a way to respond. But I haven’t had any conversation with him to really know exactly what he was talking about,” he explained.

While declining to delve deeper into the controversy, Sarkodie appeared more concerned about what he described as a recurring pattern of negativity in Ghana’s entertainment industry.

He expressed disappointment that such a positive moments with Shatta Wale aimed at boosting unity in the creative scene was overshadowed by a single tweet.

“Over the years, whenever Ghana has a beautiful moment, something comes up and distracts everybody. Whether intentional or unintentional, it kills the beautiful thing that has happened. You may think it’s funny, but we need serious prayers. Every time something good happens, something else comes along and kills the momentum. We need to break that cycle,” he said.

Meanwhile, neither Stonebwoy nor Shatta Wale has publicly addressed the tweet, but the post continues to fuel conversations among fans, making it one of the hottest topics in Ghana’s entertainment space.
