Former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has extended warm Eid-ul-Adha greetings to Muslims in Ghana and around the world, urging citizens to reflect on the values of sacrifice, compassion, and unity that define the festival.

In a goodwill message shared on Facebook, he highlighted the spiritual meaning of Eid-ul-Adha, describing it as a reminder of faith, obedience, and selflessness.

“On this sacred occasion, we are reminded of the power of sacrifice, obedience, and unwavering faith,” he wrote.

Dr. Bawumia encouraged Ghanaians to use the celebration period to show kindness to one another and strengthen national unity beyond religious and political differences.

“May the spirit of Eid-ul-Adha inspire us to give selflessly, uphold compassion, and strengthen the bonds that unite us as one people.”

He also prayed for peace, prosperity, and blessings for families across the country as Muslims mark the festival with prayers, sacrifice, and charity.

“As we celebrate, may Allah accept our sacrifices and grant peace, prosperity, and blessings to every home,” he added.

Eid-ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to obey Allah’s command to sacrifice his son, before a ram was provided in his place.

The celebration is observed through special prayers, the slaughtering of animals, sharing with the less privileged, and gatherings among families and communities.
