Cyber security expert Jerome Geraldo has cautioned the public, especially young people, to be mindful of the content they upload online, warning that a single upload or download can have lifelong consequences.
According to him, many people wrongly assume that deleting pictures or videos from social media completely removes them from the internet.
He explained that once content is uploaded online, there is always the possibility that someone may have already downloaded, saved, or shared it elsewhere, making it difficult to completely erase its digital footprint.
Mr. Geraldo advised individuals who have the habit of sharing sensitive or inappropriate content online to immediately stop in order to protect their future and personal reputation.
He stressed that actions taken on the internet today can significantly affect future opportunities, relationships, and careers.
The cyber security expert further urged the public to exercise caution when using social media and digital platforms, reminding users that every online activity contributes to shaping their future.
