The Eastern Regional Secretary of the Council of Zabarma Chiefs, Ismila Shiabu, has called on government to address challenges facing the Zabarma community in Ghana, particularly difficulties in accessing documents required to prove their Ghanaian identity.
He expressed concern that the situation is limiting access to national services and opportunities for many members of the community, urging government to engage Zabarma leadership to find a lasting solution.
Mr. Shiabu made the appeal during the installation of chiefs and elders of the Zabarma community at Akyem Boadua and Akwatia in the Denkyembour District of the Eastern Region.
He noted that many community members continue to face documentation hurdles, a situation he said is preventing them from fully participating in national development.
The Zabarma leadership is therefore calling for sustained dialogue with relevant state institutions to address the concerns and improve access to identification processes.
Meanwhile, the newly installed Akyem Boadua Zabarma Youth Chief, Inusah Yakubu Dawuda, expressed gratitude to the Council of Zabarma Chiefs for his elevation.
He used the occasion to urge stakeholders to intensify efforts to tackle early child marriage, particularly in Zongo communities, and encouraged parents to prioritise education as a pathway to future leadership and development.
