Residents of seven communities in the Kpandai District of the Northern Region are set to gain access to electricity following the arrival of materials for a major rural electrification project.
The District Chief Executive for Kpandai, Haruna Abdul-Karim, supervised the delivery of electricity poles, transformers, cables, and other equipment needed to connect the beneficiary communities to the national grid.
The project forms part of government’s efforts to expand electricity access and promote socio-economic development in underserved communities within the district.
Speaking during an inspection of the materials, Hon. Haruna Abdul-Karim said the electrification project would significantly improve the lives of residents by supporting businesses, healthcare delivery, and education.

“Electricity is a key driver of development. Connecting these communities to the national grid will help improve economic activities, support healthcare services, enhance education, and improve the general living conditions of the people,” he stated.
He noted that many rural communities continue to face challenges due to lack of electricity and assured residents of government’s commitment to ensuring equitable development across the district.

The DCE further expressed optimism that the project would open up more opportunities for local businesses and improve access to essential services in the beneficiary communities.
