The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that all Junior High School graduates who successfully completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) will begin reporting to Senior High and Technical Schools across the country on September 18, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, May 14, the Service congratulated students for completing the examination and assured parents and guardians that adequate preparations have been made to ensure a smooth transition into senior secondary education.
According to GES, arrangements have been put in place to provide the necessary infrastructure, facilities, and administrative support to accommodate all incoming students nationwide.
“All qualified candidates will be placed in schools. Every effort has been made to ensure that each student has access to senior high and technical education,” the statement said.
The Service also dismissed recent media reports suggesting that about 72,000 students could miss out on placement, describing the claims as speculative and urging the public to disregard them.
GES further assured stakeholders that efforts to phase out the double-track system would not affect access to education for students entering Senior High School.
Rather, it said the ongoing reforms are intended to improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining equal access for all qualified students.
GES reaffirmed its commitment to providing equitable, inclusive, and quality education for every Ghanaian child and called on parents, teachers, and policymakers to continue supporting the country’s educational goals.
