Tension is rising within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bekwai Constituency of the Ashanti Region, as a group of disqualified polling station aspirants has formally petitioned the party’s regional and national executives.
The aggrieved members are raising concerns over what they describe as irregularities in the recent vetting exercise, alleging that the process lacked transparency and fairness.
Speaking to Adom News at the party’s office in Bekwai during the presentation of the petition, the group, led by convener Francis Xavier Baah, said the vetting process was fraught with inconsistencies and procedural breaches that have undermined confidence in the outcome.
“Some aggrieved members who picked forms to contest for various positions at the polling station level but were disqualified are calling on regional and national executives to come down to Bekwai to intervene, else the party risks collapsing,” Mr Baah stated.
The group is also warning of possible protests if their concerns are not addressed.
“We will demonstrate against the party executives if nothing is heard from the regional or national leadership,” some of the aggrieved members added.
They are, therefore, urging party leadership to urgently step in to resolve the matter and restore trust among grassroots members in the constituency.
