Jeremy Doku struck a magnificent last-gasp equaliser as Manchester City saw their title hopes dented despite rescuing a 3-3 draw in a rollercoaster clash at Everton.
The visitors were largely frustrated during a dominant first-half display but eventually broke the deadlock on 43 minutes when Doku curved a delicious 18-yard strike into the top corner to snare his first of the evening.
Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye forced a smart save out of Gianluigi Donnarumma on the hour, before the Italian goalkeeper produced an even better stop to thwart the forward five minutes later.
The tide was turning and a sloppy back pass from Marc Guehi allowed substitute Thierno Barry to slot home the equaliser on 69 minutes.
Everton’s tails were up, and, after Jake O’Brien headed home a corner from the left, Barry notched his second of the game with a tap-in to put the hosts 3-1 up nine minutes from time.
Erling Haaland immediately reduced the arrears a moment later and Doku produced another superb long-range finish in the seventh minute of added time to earn a dramatic share of the spoils.
The result sees second-placed City cut the gap to leaders Arsenal to five points with a game in hand. However, the destiny of the title is now back in The Gunners’ hands with Mikel Arteta’s men knowing they will be crowned champions if they win their final three matches.
Everton rise to 10th spot and remain in the hunt for Europe, sitting four points behind sixth-placed Bournemouth.
Next up, Man City host Brentford on Saturday evening, while Everton visit Crystal Palace on Sunday.
