The Ghana National Fire Service has carried out a comprehensive fire and rescue simulation exercise at the Bank of Ghana premises in Hohoe, in the Volta Region, as part of efforts to strengthen emergency preparedness in high-risk institutions.
The exercise, led by the Hohoe Fire Station, brought together personnel from the Fire Service and other security agencies in a coordinated drill designed to test real-time response to a potential emergency situation within the banking environment.

Simulating a fire outbreak scenario, the operation focused on key response areas including evacuation procedures, inter-agency coordination, and the readiness of staff to respond effectively under pressure.
Firefighters and emergency responders demonstrated rescue techniques, fire containment strategies, and safe evacuation protocols, while staff of the bank actively participated in the drill.

However, observations made during the simulation revealed gaps in evacuation practices, particularly in the areas of coordination and adherence to safety procedures. Fire officers indicated that these findings would inform further training and improvements to ensure a more efficient response in real-life situations.
Management of the Bank of Ghana in Hohoe commended the Fire Service for the initiative, describing it as timely and essential in safeguarding lives and property.

They further pledged to institutionalise regular emergency drills to maintain a high level of preparedness among staff.
