The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has warned Ghanaians, especially those planning to travel abroad, to avoid dealing with individuals or agents who offer fake immigration stamps or travel endorsements to create false travel histories.
In a public statement, the Ministry said it had become aware of several cases involving Ghanaians who were arrested and detained overseas after foreign authorities discovered forged immigration stamps in their passports.
The Ministry stressed that falsifying travel documents is a serious criminal offence both in Ghana and in many other countries.
“Such offences may attract severe penalties, including arrest and prosecution, imprisonment, payment of heavy fines, deportation and long-term travel bans,” the statement said.
It further cautioned that agents who engage in such illegal practices put both themselves and their clients at risk of serious legal consequences.

The Ministry therefore advised travellers to process their visas and other travel documents only through recognised and official channels.
It also warned against handing over passports to unauthorised persons, reminding the public that individuals are responsible for the authenticity and contents of their travel documents at all times.
Ghanaians living or travelling abroad were also urged to comply fully with the immigration laws of their host countries and to seek support from Ghana’s diplomatic missions when needed.
“The Ministry remains committed to protecting the welfare of Ghanaian citizens abroad and will continue to work closely with Ghana’s diplomatic missions and relevant authorities to address such cases,” the statement concluded.
