The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipal Assembly in the Central Region has issued a strong warning against any actions that could delay the construction of the 24-hour market project in the municipality.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive, Ismail Saed Zagoon, the Assembly will not tolerate any form of frustration, interference or activities that could slow down the execution of the project.

Speaking during the sod-cutting ceremony to officially commence construction, he stressed that government has demonstrated commitment by allocating funds for the project, and therefore all stakeholders must ensure smooth implementation.

He added that the Assembly, together with the Member of Parliament and the traditional council, fully supports the contractor to deliver the project on schedule.

The MCE also expressed appreciation to the traditional authorities for providing litigation-free land for the project, noting that land disputes have delayed similar projects in other parts of the country.

He urged all parties involved to remain united and focused to ensure the timely completion of the facility, which forms part of the broader 24-hour economy agenda.

The Managing Director of Hallword Construction Ghana Limited, Frimpong Kwesi, assured that the project will be completed within 15 months, although the official timeline is 24 months.

He explained that delays in government payments often slow down construction projects, but noted that assurances of prompt payment for this project will help ensure faster delivery.

He further commended the Assembly and traditional authorities for their cooperation and support, describing it as key to successful project execution.

The market, once completed, is expected to boost economic activity and support round-the-clock trading within the municipality.
