An aide to former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has criticised the government’s handling of the ongoing power challenges, accusing the ruling National Democratic Congress of lacking the capacity to resolve the situation.
Speaking on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM, Mr Aboagye questioned why power outages, commonly referred to as dumsor, tend to resurface under NDC administrations.
According to him, claims that the opposition New Patriotic Party failed to invest in the energy sector are inaccurate, insisting that about 1,600 megawatts of power were added to the national grid during the party’s time in office.
He further alleged that the current government has been overwhelmed since assuming office, a situation he says is affecting multiple aspects of national life.
“This government has been overwhelmed from day one, and it is beginning to reflect in every aspect of Ghanaian life,” he stated.
Mr Aboagye also criticised what he described as attempts by the government to shift blame onto the opposition instead of addressing the core issues in the energy sector.
“Our problem with energy has always been generation. The question Ghanaians should ask is whether this government has taken the time to find solutions,” he said.
He claimed that the country has experienced persistent power challenges for several months, with outages occurring multiple times a day in some areas, affecting businesses and livelihoods.
“You can’t do politics with electricity. People are losing money, so the government must fix the problem,” he added.
