A group calling itself Concerned Assembly Members in the Ellembelle District has strongly denied reports claiming they have petitioned the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources over an alleged dispute involving Adamus Resources Limited.

In a rejoinder dated April 22, 2026, and signed by the Assembly Member for the Asasetre Ebowu Electoral Area, Banabas Ewereko, the group described the publication as “false, misleading, and without any basis in fact.”

“Our attention has been drawn to a publication alleging that Assembly Members have petitioned the Minister. We wish to categorically state that this publication is false,” the statement said.

The Assembly Members insisted they have no knowledge of any such petition and have not engaged in any discussions or actions relating to the alleged matter.

“At no point have we collectively or individually initiated such action,” the statement stressed.

They further dismissed claims of any ongoing dispute between communities in the area and the mining company.

“Contrary to the claims made, there is no ongoing dispute between the communities and Adamus Resources Limited that warrants escalation to the Minister,” they noted.

According to the group, the report amounts to a distortion of facts that could create unnecessary tension in otherwise peaceful communities.

“The said report appears to be a misrepresentation and distortion of facts, which has the potential to create unnecessary tension and panic,” the statement added.

The Assembly Members have therefore urged the public to disregard the publication and called on media practitioners to adhere to professional standards.

“We urge the general public to disregard this misinformation and treat it with the contempt it deserves,” they said, cautioning media houses to verify information before publication.

They also warned that such unfounded reports could unfairly cast aspersions on the Sector Minister, particularly as the issue is linked to his constituency.

Reaffirming their position, the group concluded that there is no petition, no dispute, and that “the situation within the area remains calm and stable.”
