Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has raised fresh concerns over alleged nepotism and breaches of due process at the National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA).
In a Facebook post on Sunday, April 19, Mr Assafuah claimed that a staff member, Rosemary Estella Opandoh, who he says is related to the wife of the NPRA Chief Executive Officer, was engaged as a contract staff in May 2025 but promoted to a managerial position within two months.
He alleged that her elevation to the role of Manager for Risk, along with her subsequent transfer to the Authority’s headquarters, raises questions about adherence to established public sector procedures.
According to the MP, the promotion timeline appears to have bypassed standard requirements such as performance evaluations and competitive processes.
Mr Assafuah further alleged that Ms Opandoh received a transfer grant of GH¢90,000 following her reassignment, describing the amount as excessive and unjustified.
He suggested that the developments point to preferential treatment under the leadership of NPRA Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Boadi-Mensah.
The lawmaker warned that such actions, if substantiated, could erode public trust in the management of pension funds and undermine principles of accountability and good corporate governance.
