Rapper Kwesi Arthur has made a bold and unfiltered case for Black Sherif to clinch the coveted Artiste of the Year title at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
The reason, the seasoned rapper opined, is that Black Sherif’s run within the year under review has been unmatched.
Speaking during a lively Twitch session on Made in Ghana, Kwesi Arthur did not hold back his admiration for Black Sherif’s impact and consistency on the music scene.
“Looking at the year under review, I think Black Sherif should win Artiste of the Year. If he doesn’t win, we will riot,” he said half-jokingly, a comment that quickly set social media ablaze.
When asked about fellow rapper Medikal, Kwesi Arthur also acknowledged that he has had a strong year, noting that his consistency and output remain impressive.
His comments have since been interpreted by fans as a public clearing of the air regarding long-standing rumours of tension between him and Black Sherif.
This year’s Artiste of the Year category features strong contenders including Black Sherif, Medikal, Stonebwoy, Wendy Shay, Sarkodie, and Diana Hamilton.
The category recognizes artistes with outstanding chart performance, hit records, and overall impact within the eligibility period.
With Black Sherif leading Ghana’s Boomplay, Spotify, and Billboard charts, and his fan-favourite album Iron Boy, Kwesi Arthur believes the crown fits his head.
