The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, together with the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei South, Ernest Adomako, has cut sod for the construction of a three-storey classroom block for the Kaneshie Cluster of Schools.
The project is aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions for the school’s 198 pupils.

In addition to the classroom block, the project will include the rehabilitation of the school’s ICT block and other ancillary works, including the provision of a football pitch.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Mayor said the initiative fulfils a promise made to residents of Okaikwei South and forms part of a broader infrastructure development agenda for the area.

He called for at least 90 per cent of workers on the project to be sourced locally and encouraged the use of local suppliers, including cement dealers and block manufacturers, to create employment opportunities.
Mr. Allotey added that the constituency is set to witness major infrastructure expansion, with plans to undertake road, drainage, and other development projects.

On his part, the MP described the project as a foundation for a brighter future, noting that it would help reduce overcrowding and provide a more conducive environment for both pupils and teachers.
The project is expected to be completed within six months.
