Berekum Chelsea will return to training on Monday, April 20, 2026, following the tragic robbery attack that claimed the life of club official Dominic Frimpong.

The club’s Public Relations Officer, Isaac Obeng, confirmed the decision after activities were temporarily halted in the wake of the incident.

The attack occurred last Sunday when armed robbers ambushed the team bus along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District. The team was travelling back to Berekum after honouring a Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex.

Frimpong sustained a gunshot wound to the head during the attack and was later pronounced dead at the Bibiani Government Hospital. Several players also suffered minor injuries.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Obeng revealed that while some members of the squad are still undergoing medical assessment, others have been cleared to gradually resume training.

He further disclosed that the Ghana Football Association has postponed the club’s Matchday 30 fixture to May 6, allowing the team additional time to recover from the traumatic ordeal.

The incident has reignited concerns over the safety of teams travelling for domestic competitions, prompting renewed calls for improved security measures.

Police investigations are ongoing, with two suspects—including an alleged gang leader—already in custody in connection with the attack.
