Ghanaian comedian and media personality Foster Owusu Amponsah, popularly known as Romanus, has revealed that he discontinued his studies at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) after one year to pursue his passion for the arts.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, he explained that he initially enrolled to study Chartered Accounting, a decision largely influenced by his father.

According to him, his father had originally wanted him to pursue science, but they later agreed on accounting as a compromise.

He said he gained admission through an access programme, similar to a mature entrance route, and began his studies at UPSA.

However, while in school, he participated in the comedy show Stars of the Future, where he emerged as the second runner-up — an experience that played a key role in shaping his career path.

Foster Romanus disclosed that he later had a conversation with his father about his true interests, expressing his desire to pursue the arts instead of accounting.

He revealed that he had earlier applied to the University of Ghana to study Theatre Arts and later discovered that he had been offered admission.

Following that, he made the decision to leave UPSA and enrol at the University of Ghana to study Theatre Arts, aligning his education with his passion.
