Two fire service officers sustained injuries after falling from their fire tender during a second explosion involving a petrol tanker at Potsin Junction.

The tanker, registered GT 5671-22 and operated by Star Oil, initially caught fire before firefighters arrived on the scene.

While attempting to control the blaze, the tanker exploded a second time, putting police officers, fire personnel, NADMO officials, and media workers at risk.

In an interview with Adom News, Ebo Anderson, a member of the Gomoa Potsin Rapid Response Team, said: “We saw a small fire on the tanker, so I drew the attention of the officers. When they tried to pour water inside, it exploded again.”

The incident has blocked the main road, causing severe traffic congestion in the area. Authorities have urged motorists to use alternative routes while emergency teams work to secure the scene.
