Three dead as truck overturns near Asenema Waterfalls

Three men have died in a road traffic accident involving a HOWO 371 truck near the Asenema Waterfalls on the Adukrom–Koforidua Highway in the Eastern Region.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Kpong Municipal Fire Station responded to the incident after receiving a distress call.

According to the Service, the truck overturned near the waterfalls with three male occupants trapped inside the vehicle.

Firefighters conducted rescue and extrication operations to remove the victims from the wreckage. However, all three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

The bodies were later handed over to officers from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service.

They were subsequently conveyed to the morgue at the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.

Firefighters also cleared the road to ensure it was safe for motorists before returning to base.

The cause of the accident is yet to be determined.
