President John Dramani Mahama has announced that his government plans to establish three new technical universities to enhance skills development, foster innovation, and support Ghana’s industrial development.

Delivering the 2026 State of the Nation Address, President Mahama emphasized that education and infrastructure development remain central to the country’s transformation agenda.

He highlighted the teacher housing initiative, a collaborative project involving district assemblies, the Common Fund, GETFund, and other stakeholders, which is expected to deliver 50,000 housing units for teachers.

Referred to as the “Teacher Daberi” project, the initiative aims to improve living conditions for teachers and enhance retention, particularly in rural and remote communities.

“This initiative demonstrates our collective dedication to improving teachers’ living conditions and boosting retention, especially in rural and remote areas, ensuring that teachers can live, work, and retire with dignity and security,” President Mahama stated.

He reiterated that investments in education, housing, and healthcare are part of a broader strategy to strengthen human capital and promote sustainable development across Ghana.
