President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his resolve to steer Ghana out of its current economic strain, assuring citizens that efforts to rebuild confidence and restore growth remain firmly on track.
Addressing Parliament in his second State of the Nation Address since returning to office, President Mahama acknowledged that the country continues to face significant pressures.
However, he emphasised that his administration is determined to confront those challenges head-on and deliver meaningful relief.
He reminded lawmakers that from the earliest days of his tenure, he had not downplayed the magnitude of the crisis, cautioning that recovery would require patience, discipline, and collective effort.
“I was clear from the outset that recovery will not come easily, but I was equally clear that I will stop at nothing to turn this situation around and bring relief to Ghanaians,” the President said.
Drawing on his previous experience in national leadership, he expressed confidence that the current turbulence can be overcome.
“I promised that just as I have overcome challenges in the past, I will reset our economy and return us to a path of growth, progress and development,” he stated.
The annual address, delivered in accordance with constitutional requirements, provided an update on the country’s condition while outlining policy priorities for the year ahead. Key sectors expected to receive attention include the economy, infrastructure, education, healthcare and energy, with a strong focus on curbing inflation, strengthening domestic revenue mobilisation, and expanding employment opportunities.
The address comes amid growing public scrutiny of the government’s economic recovery programme and rising expectations for visible improvements in living standards.
