The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three men believed to be members of a robbery syndicate accused of terrorising communities within its jurisdiction, particularly in Obuasi.

The suspects were apprehended on February 15, 2026, during what police described as an intelligence-led operation at Mangoase near Pokukrom.

In a statement, the Police said officers raided multiple hideouts suspected to be linked to the group.

The suspects have been identified as Aziz Abubakar, also known as Romeo, Faraway Amari, and Patient Asare.

According to the Police, items retrieved during the operation included a pump-action gun loaded with ammunition, machetes, a bayonet, combat boots, a 9mm round, and GH¢20,000 believed to be proceeds of criminal activity.

Preliminary investigations have also linked two of the suspects to the killing of three individuals at Breme near Bechem in the Bono Region in March 2025.

The statement added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional accomplices and recover more weapons believed to be in circulation.

The Regional Command has assured residents that operations will continue as part of broader efforts to dismantle organised criminal networks and restore calm to affected communities.
