The District Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) in Asutifi North, Ahafo Region, DO3 Emmanuel Quansah, has warned that his office will no longer tolerate individuals whose actions cause bushfires.
Speaking in an interview with Adom News at Kenyasi, DO3 Quansah said that despite intensive public sensitisation campaigns on the dangers of bushfires, some people continue to engage in activities that spark fires.
He noted that the command has developed strategies to identify and apprehend those responsible for causing bushfires and ensure they face prosecution.
DO3 Quansah highlighted that Asutifi North is one of the country’s major food-producing districts, and the Fire Service will not allow the reckless actions of a few individuals to destroy farms and livelihoods.
He stressed that offenders will be brought before the courts to face the full rigours of the law.
