The youth of Gyedu in the Ahafo Region have raised concerns over stalled development in the community, attributing the situation to the absence of a substantive chief for over two decades.
They are therefore appealing to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to intervene and help resolve the long-standing chieftaincy issue.
Speaking to Adom News, former Youth Chairman, Kwasi Poku Augustine, said the community has been without a chief for more than 25 years, a situation he noted has significantly hindered development.
According to him, Gyedu remains one of the underdeveloped communities in the region due to the lack of traditional leadership to champion development initiatives and attract investment.
He explained that unlike other communities with active traditional authorities, Gyedu has struggled to mobilise resources and advocate for its needs.
The youth are therefore urging the Asantehene to take urgent steps to help restore leadership to the community to accelerate development.
Mr Augustine added that the youth are ready to support and work with any individual installed as chief to ensure progress and improve living conditions in the area.
