Early Thursday morning, a fire broke out in New Abirem in the Birim North Municipality, destroying three wooden shops and causing panic among residents.

Witnesses reported seeing thick smoke and flames engulf the structures around dawn.
A rapid response from the New Abirem Municipal Fire Station prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

A five-member firefighting team, led by LFM Akuoko Dacosta, arrived within minutes, bringing the blaze under control and fully extinguishing it.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
The affected shop owners are yet to assess the full extent of the property losses.
Authorities are urging shop owners to carry out proper electrical maintenance to prevent similar incidents in the future.
