The government has announced a new producer price of GH¢41,392 per tonne for cocoa for the remainder of the 2025/2026 crop season, aimed at stabilising the sector and providing relief to farmers.
The revised rate, approved by the Producer Price Review Committee (PPRC), takes effect from Thursday, February 12, and translates to GH¢2,587 per bag.
Speaking to journalists, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson said the adjustment was informed by prevailing conditions in the international cocoa market.
“The new producer price reflects current global price trends and is intended to restore confidence across the cocoa value chain,” he explained.
Dr. Forson noted that the increase is expected to inject immediate liquidity into the sector and accelerate payments to farmers who have faced delays in recent months.
He added that easing financial pressure on farmers remains a priority as the government implements broader reforms to strengthen the cocoa sector’s financial base and ensure its long-term sustainability.
“As a result, the PPRC hereby announces that effective today, Thursday, 12th February 2026, the new producer price for the remainder of the 2025/2026 crop season is GH¢41,392 per tonne and GH¢2,587 per bag,” Dr. Forson confirmed.
