The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has released the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal, on self-recognisance bail following several hours of questioning.
His lawyer, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, confirmed to Graphic Online that Mr. Jamal was interrogated over alleged vote-buying linked to the party’s parliamentary primary held on Saturday, February 7.
He also explained that Mr. Jamal was questioned regarding an alleged assault on an OSP officer dispatched to serve him an invitation letter.
Counsel maintained that his client had no knowledge of items purportedly being distributed in his name, adding: “If he was aware and being a lawyer, he would have informed people of the position of the law.”
