Chairman of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Election Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu, has announced that a total of 211,911 delegates are expected to vote in the NPP presidential primary scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the former Deputy Speaker of Parliament explained that voting will take place in all constituencies at designated centres, beginning at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m.

He said the delegates’ register has been handed over entirely to the Electoral Commission (EC) to manage the process, stressing that all election-related activities will be conducted by the EC without interference from party officials.

Mr Osei Owusu noted that delegates are required to present valid identification, either a Ghana Card, party ID, or passport, before being allowed to vote.

After voting, delegates will be required to leave the voting centre.

He added that ballots will be counted and results declared at the polling stations before being transmitted to regional offices and later to the national headquarters.

He cautioned that any serious irregularities, including delays in the start of voting, could lead to the cancellation of the exercise at affected centres.

Security will be provided by the Police, while only accredited media and two accredited agents per candidate will be allowed at voting centres.

He further stated that campaign paraphernalia linked to individual candidates will not be permitted at the centres, although party-branded clothing is allowed.
