Former Auditor‑General Daniel Domelevo has praised the Mahama-led government for maintaining a corruption-free record in its first year in office.

In an interview with Barima Kofi Dawson on Nhyria FM’s “Kro Yi Mu Nsem” morning show, he noted that although the 2025 audit report has not yet been released, the administration under President John Dramani Mahama has avoided scandals so far.

“Article 187(5) of the 1992 Constitution requires the Auditor’s report to be published by 30 June, a deadline the public is still awaiting. But past scandals have often been exposed by the media rather than official audit reports, so if there were any scandals in 2025, they would likely have come to light by now,” Mr. Domelevo said.

He added, “I’m delighted the NDC has completed its first year without any scandals, and I want to commend the administration for that achievement.”

Mr. Domelevo, who is also the Board Chairman of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO), credited the government’s clean record to the “tone from leadership.” He explained that President Mahama’s firm stance against corruption and repeated warnings to appointees not to engage in misconduct have had a positive impact.

“The tone from leadership is the reason the government has remained corruption-free. The president has warned his appointees that anyone who brings a scandal into his government will not be spared,” he said.

Comparing President Mahama’s approach to that of former President Nana Akufo‑Addo, Mr. Domelevo noted a stark contrast, arguing that unlike Akufo‑Addo—who, in cases like Cecilia Dapaah, acted as a “clearing agent”—Mahama does not engage in such practices.
