The Greater Accra Regional Manager of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Justice Cudjoe, has revealed that over 2,300 new vehicles have been registered in the region within the first two weeks of January 2026.
Speaking to Adom News, he said the registrations, recorded between January 2 and January 13, show a steady increase in daily activity.
“On January 2, we registered 185 vehicles, and by January 13, the number had risen to 425,” Mr. Cudjoe noted.
He explained that the DVLA is actively addressing challenges linked to the new vehicle number plate system and assured the public that measures are in place to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process.
Mr. Cudjoe urged owners of newly imported or acquired vehicles to complete their registrations promptly to avoid potential confrontations with law enforcement.
He further clarified that vehicle owners will still be required to pay the appropriate fees when re-registering under the new system once all outstanding issues are resolved.
“Compliance with registration requirements is essential to maintaining order and efficiency in our road transport system,” he added.
