A new poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics points to strong public backing for several major recommendations contained in the Constitutional Review Commission’s report released earlier this month.
According to the survey, a majority of voters support the proposal to extend the presidential term from four to five years.
The poll, released on Monday, December 29, shows that 57% of respondents approve of the proposed change, while 36% are opposed. The remaining 7% said they had no opinion.
The findings also reveal broad support for a recommendation to bar Members of Parliament from holding ministerial positions. On this issue, 58% of respondents expressed approval, compared with 32% who disapprove. About 10% indicated they had no opinion.
Public sentiment is equally favourable towards lowering the minimum age requirement to contest the presidency. The poll shows that 55% of voters support reducing the age threshold, while 35% are against the proposal. Another 10% reported having no opinion.
Global InfoAnalytics conducted the poll between December 1 and December 21, 2025, using a mixed-method approach that combined web-based questionnaires, telephone interviews, and face-to-face engagements. In all, 13,495 voters nationwide participated in the survey.
