A new national tracking poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics indicates growing optimism among Ghanaians, with a majority saying their standard of living has improved over the past year, amid the rollout of the 2026 national budget.
The survey, released on Monday, December 29, found that 56% of respondents believe their living standards have improved compared to a year ago, while 27% said conditions have remained the same. Only 12% reported a decline, with 5% indicating no opinion.
Looking ahead, optimism remains strong, as 70% of voters expressed confidence that their standard of living will further improve in 2026. In contrast, 18% were pessimistic about the future.
On the 2026 budget presented by Finance Minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, nearly two-thirds of respondents (66%) said they were satisfied. Meanwhile, 18% expressed dissatisfaction, and 16% described their position as neutral.
The poll also captured public sentiment on governance issues. About 56% of respondents said corruption has improved in the country, while 60% believe the government is doing enough to combat the menace.
Regarding the fight against illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, 47% of respondents said the situation has not worsened under the Mahama administration, including 43% of those living in mining regions.
Overall, the findings suggest that recent economic policies, alongside governance and anti-corruption efforts, are resonating with a majority of Ghanaians and strengthening public confidence in the country’s direction.
